Three Way Cookies
Here's an easy cookie recipe for Three Way Cookies which are perfect when you don't know what you want - or want a little variety.
It combines three popular cookies into one - chocolate, peanut butter and chocolate chip.
Here are some helpful reminders to make your cookie baking a success.
Only grease your cookie sheets if the recipe specifically calls for it, otherwise your cookies may spread more than they should.
Always allow your cookie sheets to cool between bakings.
Hot cookie sheets can cause the fat in the dough to melt before baking and this will give you flatter cookies.
Be sure to wipe your baking sheets with paper towels between bakings, if necessary, to remove crumbs.
Three Way Cookies Recipe
- 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup miniature semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup chunky peanut butter
- 1 ounce (1 square) unsweetened chocolate, melted, cooled
- In a large mixing bowl, beat brown sugar, white sugar, butter and shortening until light and fluffy.
- Add vanilla and egg and blend well.
- Gradually add flour, baking soda and salt and blend well.
- Divide cookie dough into 3 equal portions and place each in a small bowl.
- Add miniature chocolate chips to one portion and stir well.
- Add peanut butter to second portion and blend well.
- Add melted chocolate to third portion and blend well.
- Cover cookie dough portions and refrigerate for 1/2 hour for easier handling.
- Preheat oven to 375F degrees. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper or set aside ungreased sheets.
- Shape 1/2 teaspoonful of each type of dough into a ball forming three separate dough balls.
- To form cookie, place one ball of each dough cloverleaf-style on cookie sheet at least 2 inches apart from other cookies; repeat with remaining dough.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until set.
- Remove from the oven and let cookies stand for 1 minute on cookie sheet before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
This recipe yields about 3 1/2 dozen Three Way Cookies
